Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow
Yesterday, there was
The bed where I dreamt my purpose.
The cup that first tasted peace.
The clock that told me I had time—
Time to be happy, tomorrow.
The calendar that promised an eternity—
Eternity to fulfill my life.
The sink where I could drown my problems.
The couch I laid on to forget some.
The ashtray that held all my anxiety.
The wine glass that stored all my sorrow.
Today, there is
The bed that no longer offers dreams—
Only nightmares.
The broken cup, holding only
Remnants of past content.
The halted clock, silent in its failure
To track my fulfillment.
The calendar that forgot its own date.
The sink, overflowing with waste.
The couch, sunken into the ground.
The ashtray, full to the brim.
The wine glass, shattered—
Waiting to be pieced back together.
Tomorrow, there will be....
